My first cousin, Joseph Peter Bartzis, had a way of making everyone feel special and brightened any room he entered. I will forever cherish the memories I have babysitting him, celebrating numerous holidays with him, dancing to, “Like A Prayer” at my wedding with him, and spending a couple summers in Greece with him. He was looking forward to, as he said, “Greece 2018, baby!” Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to go to Greece together again as he was taken too soon by a rare disease few know of, Amyloidosis. I find comfort knowing the Joseph Peter Bartzis Foundation will spread awareness about Amyloidosis and encourage all, especially young adults, like Joey, to get annual physicals. Joey constantly helped others and through the foundation, he will continue to help others. Not a day goes by that our family does not feel Joey’s absence and miss him beyond words, but I know in my heart we will meet again...
